Creation of More Emirates Meant To Promote Traditional Institutions – Gov Ganduje
Kano State Governor,
Dr. Abdullahi Umar has said that the creation of four additional emirates in the state demonstrates the administration’s commitment and determination to the promotion of traditional institutions in the state.
The Governor noted this during the Coronation ceremony of the second Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Ado Bayero, when he was presented with Staff of Office at Bichi Township Stadium on Saturday, assuring that he would continue to do his best to further support traditional institutions in the state.
Expressing delight on the conduct of the occasion Governor Ganduje acknowledged that
“I am so over-joyed to take part in another historic event of the coronation of another First Class Emir in Kano state, in the person of Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero. The Second Emir of Bichi Emirate Council. The son of the 13th Fulani Emir of Kano, the late Alhaji Ado Bayero”.
He described the Emir as a “distinguished technocrat, a Banker per excellence and a successful entrepreneur.”
Governor Ganduje reminded that, prior to the appointment of the Emir, he (Emir) served as the District Head of Nassarawa and Tarauni local government councils, adding that “He even held the title of Turaki and Chiroma of Kano. Selecting him to serve as Bichi Emir is apt, considering his royal pedigree and extraordinary leadership qualities.”
He said he was optimistic that, “Bichi will experience extensive transformation under the stewardship of Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero. Kano state government appreciates tremendous contribution of traditional institutions in promoting peace and harmonious coexistence among the people of the state.”
The representative of President Muhammadu Buhari, Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari, extended the greetings of the President to the Emir.
President Buhari according to Gambari, said he was “delighted to congratulate His Royal Highness on the occasion of your well deserved installation as the Emir of Bichi today Saturday, 21st August, 2021.”
“Your turbaning is a providential one in the history of our country. When the prevailing social and political conditions provided the opportunity for emerging leaders,” he said.
He further acknowledged that, “my friend the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero was a symbol of unity, not only within the Kingdom, but in Northern Nigeria and the country as a whole. I am confident that you will exhibit similar leadership quality and much more as you demonstrated in the last few months of your Emirate. I wish to assure you of my support for you to leave a successful legacy.”
Earlier in his speech, Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, thanked President Buhari and the Governor for their support to him. He called on people to plant trees for healthier environment, adding that, “we will do our best to boost the security of our society.”
The occasion, preceded by the wedding fatiha of the Emir’s daughter, Zahra Bayero with the only son of President Muhammadu Buhari, Yusuf, was well attended by dignitaries from all walks of life from within a and outside Nigeria.
