Kano state government will continue to provide all necessary support for effective implementation of Girl’s Education Project Phase 3 ( GEP3).
The Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Education, Hajiya Lauratu Ado Diso, dropped the hint during the 2019 Annual Review Planning Meeting of the GEP3.
She noted with appreciation the level of intervention made by the project in the state basic education sector with particular concern on Girl child education support.
” The government and in particular the ministry of education has been a beneficiary of the GEP3 projects which has made significant impact in increasing girls access to basic education” she added.
She stressed that the project has equally facilitates improved learning environment and outcomes as well as strengthened planing/ management system of education.
According to her, the number of public primary schools has witnessed an increase of 877 schools within 3 years, representi 28 percent increase in the enrollment figure.
She further disclosed that the state government is also according priority attention to education sector especially the girl child education hence its resolve to declare free education policy .
Speaking also at the occasion, the State Project Coordinator, Mr. Richard Sheyin Akanet, said that the program, among other things, focuses on basic education for girls that are within the age of going to school.
He added that GEP3 project which is also targeted to improving socio economic opportunities for girl child, is been operated in 6 states namely Kano, Katsina Bauchi, Niger, Sokoto and Zamfara states respectively.
